“If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there”
According to Google, the above quote is from the book Alice in Wonderland. I cannot say I’ve read it. I did however see it on Reddit and used it as a caption for one of my Instagram pictures. In fact, it was the caption for the picture above. So, yeah, welcome to my blog. There is no end goal here. Maybe people will read it, maybe people will never see it. This series of honest, poorly formatted, messy literature is going to be something that may or may not take shape with time.
About me, Ryan Nash, I am a 4th year Economics and Political Science student at the University of New Mexico graduating in May 2018. I am also a member of the UNM Honors College and Omicron Delta Epsilon (don’t worry… it’s not a frat, just an Economics honor society that cost $35 and for some reason looks good on a resume). I have been a big sports guy my entire life. I coach track and field at my high school alma mater. I ran the 100 and 200 in high school as a mediocre to good varsity track athlete. I was a part of the Medley Relay Metro Championship team, we also set the Metro record in that race that still stands today. Legendary stuff, I know. Beyond track, My athletic accomplishments include being the captain of the 2016 University of New Mexico Intramural Basketball Men’s B-League champions. My 5th grade AAU coach once said “we’ll be reading about this kid (me) in the papers in a couple of years” at our banquet following the championship game. We lost that game by 2 points. I had two free throws at the end to tie it, missed the first. You know the rest… Tears ensued. We were undefeated going into the game. Shot my shot, though. My basketball career was not mentioned in the papers as predicted by my coach, unfortunately.
Beyond sports, expect a lot of random thoughts and politics. Unfortunately, years of social science and the soon completion of two social science degrees gives me the urge to write about that same stuff. Sometimes I might sounds intelligible on the topics. But, ultimately, I have no clue what is going on ever, kind of like most people I guess. Calvin and Hobbes inspired closing…
This should be fun. Don’t take it too seriously, I sure as hell won’t
